Questions instructors ask

Do students need accounts?

No. They scan a QR code and pick a display name for that session. The name is not saved, and Nova does not build a student roster.

What student data does Nova keep?

Nova is not a system of record for grades or attendance. Display names are not saved. Questions are used to run the live class. We do not sell student data. If your institution needs a data-processing agreement, use the Department plan and contact us.

How big a class can join?

Instructor supports up to 50 students in one session. Nova is built for seminars, labs, and classes under that size, not a 300-seat hall.

Does Nova plug into my slides or LMS?

No plugin. Nova runs in a browser tab next to PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote. There is no Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle integration.

What will Nova refuse to answer?

Answers are family-filtered. Nova declines requests that fail that filter, and you can pause auto-answer from the host controls.

How does the free trial and cancellation work?

Instructor is free for 7 days or 25 Nova answers, whichever comes first. No card to start. After that, Instructor is $15 per month. Cancel anytime in billing before you are charged. Department is $299 per month and is billed when you subscribe.

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes. Sign in with Google or with a school email and a password.
