Nova for professors
A clicker alternative with an AI that answers out loud
Nova is a student response system for lectures, labs, and seminars. Students join a live Q&A from their phones. Nova speaks the answer on the classroom screen. When you want a poll, you flip modes in one tap.
Replace the clicker drawer
Hardware clickers need batteries, a roster, and the first week of term to hand out. Nova is a browser tab. Students scan a QR code. There is no app, no student account, and no device to forget. Anonymous asking is the point: the student who will not raise a hand still gets an answer the whole room can hear.
A Kahoot alternative for college, without the soundtrack
Kahoot is built as a game. College students already know the theme music, and a quick concept check should not take a quiz deck. Nova’s live polls are ranked votes with a podium, started from the same session as the Q&A. It is not a multiple-choice quiz bank, and it does not grade the gradebook.
What Mentimeter and Poll Everywhere do not do
Those tools collect the room. Nova also answers it. A live poll shows you the spread. A spoken answer lets every seat hear the explanation, including people who never typed a question. Nova does not embed in PowerPoint and does not pass grades back to an LMS. It runs beside your slides.
Who it fits
Instructor is for one host and up to 50 students in a session: a seminar, a lab section, a review before the exam. Department is a shared plan when several instructors host. A 300-seat hall is outside what Nova supports today.
